Welcome to Pastel Hell! What the heck is an Ukagaka?

An Ukagaka (also known as a “Ghost”) is a character that vibes with you while sitting on your desktop. They’ll often make comments about various things and you may be able to perform various functions for your computer like emptying the recycling bin or changing your wallpaper. Some Ukagakas can talk to other ones that are open at the same time while others can play music or check the weather. They can be extremely simple or very complex.

Ukagakas need to be run on top of another program, the most common one is SSP (for windows, although there are others around) and you will need to install that first. Don’t worry about money, it’s free :)

Questions or Concerns? Join our Discord!DST more your thing? But can I make Wilson sing Karaoke?

Or any Ukagaka for that matter. This is only for fun btw, it won’t effect your relationship with Wilson and he’s totally unaware of it.

Lyric files are normal text files with
fancy packaging, they contain on each line either
a timestamp with the lyrics to be played then, or and id containing things like the song’s artist, album, title, or whoever made the file, though the ids aren’t necessary. They must be named the same as the song’s mp3 (or whatever) and be placed in the same folder. I haven’t seen any case’s where they are otherwise. Lyric files can be made with special software, or
 notepad and some determination.
They can also be found on sites like Lyricsify.

Why don't you tell me now? Won't you tell me how?Plugins and Lyric Files oh my!

Ukagakas can be made to read off lyrics in time with music by combining specific plugins with timed lyric files “.lrc” There is a plugin for the music player Foobar2000 and some for Winamp, however I haven’t been able to get any for Winamp working properly on Windows 10, so this section will be about the one for Foobar2000.
Foobar2000 can be found here,
the plugin can be found here,
and install instructions can be found here.

For most Ukagaka’s it’s as simple as opening both SSP and Foobar2000, loading your music, and hitting play. There is nothing you need to do with your Ukagaka to get them ready, but telling them to keep quiet will keep them from interrupting the lyrics.

Wretched Wilson is a special case, you’ll have to change some settings in Foobar2000 for him to use his special pose seen on the left here. Also, he and a few other Ghosts still fidget around when told to keep quiet, I’ll add something to deal with that next update

Under File > Preferences, expand the Tools section and click on SakuraScript Lyrics which is shown below. The editable text here might look a little strange but that is what is sent to SSP so it knows what to display. For Wilson, change the 25 in brackets to 96. It’s the id number of his karaoke pose. If you change anything in here you’ll probably need to restart the song for it to change.
